Development organises a technical conference to provide information on the benefits of installing green coverings on buildings.

This is one of the actions to renaturalise cities outlined in the Sustainable Construction and Architecture Strategy
On Monday, 3 May, the Department of Development and Infrastructure is organising a technical conference to publicise the benefits of implementing plant coverings on the terraces of buildings in the Region of Murcia. The seminar (which will be held online) will begin at 9:30 and architects Joaquín Ruiz Piñera and Bartumeu Antich García will participate.
The managing director of Territory and Architecture, Jaime Pérez Zulueta explained that promoting these installations is one of the measures launched by the regional government outlined in the Sustainable Architecture of Construction Strategy "to renaturalise cities, fight against climate change and improve people's quality of life".
"The main advantages of the plant coverings are reducing the temperature of the building in summer, which leads to significant energy savings; capturing rainwater, which contributes to decreasing torrential rain runoff; capturing carbon dioxide and improving biodiversity in our cities," stated the director.
Pérez Zulueta highlighted the experience of the speakers who participated in the technical conference: Joaquín Ruiz Piñera is Passivhaus certified and a specialist in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency at UEL University, London, while Bartomeu Antich García is a technician at the Municipal Institute of Urban Landscape and a speaker at the Mixed Commission on the Protection of the Urban Landscape at Barcelona City Council.
The conference will begin with the presentation by the councillor for Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, continue with the presentation from architects Ruiz and Antich, and close with director Jaime Pérez Zulueta.
