The change in the model of sustainable architecture proposed by the regional government poses new business opportunities to boost construction activity in the Region of Murcia. It promotes renovation and improvement in the management of construction and demolition waste, fostering an industrial symbiosis with other production sectors.
The regional minister for Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, this week presented the Region of Murcia's Sustainable Construction and Architecture Strategy (EACS) to the chairman of the Association of Construction Companies and Infrastructure Licensees (Seopan). With this strategy, the regional government "kicks of the transition process towards a friendly architecture that creates cities that look after people".
Díez de Revenga explained the benefits of this new way of designing buildings, which will have a positive impact on people's health, whilst generating "new incentives for the creation of new professional profiles in construction companies to cover the demands of consumers who are opting for the renaturalisation of homes and cities".
"Maximum-efficiency energy fittings, nature-based solutions, materials that minimise the carbon and water footprint, and new modular building systems, are measures that have already permeated contemporary society", stated the minister, who felt that these new elements are "a great opportunity" for the architecture and construction sector.
