The new sustainable architecture model Proposed by the regional government will boost business for quantity surveyors in the Region of Murcia. It represents an ecological transition of the construction sector that is set out in the European objectives established for the European Urban Agenda 2030.
The general director for Territory and Architecture, Jaime Pérez Zulueta, and the chair of the Official Association of Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Mármol, held a working meeting this week in which they talked about the new opportunities posed by the Region of Murcia's Sustainable Contruction and Architecture Strategy (EACS), which will help lessen the impact of the coronavirus crisis.
Pérez Zulueta highlighted the leading role played by this professional association in drafting the Strategy, and explained that "the aim is to use friendlier architecture to create cities that improve people's quality of life and are more environmentally friendly".
"Energy efficiency in construction, nature-based solutions, reducing the carbon and water footprint and recycling construction and demolition waste are, among other issues, priority aspects that lead the way for us towards making progress in the construction process," indicated the director. He also stated that "we must stress the importance of training for companies and professionals, as well as raising awareness in society in order to make progress in this new process of urban ecological transformation".
