The Regional Ministry for Development and Association of Architects plan 64 training actions linked to the Sustainable Architecture Strategy

30/09/2020

They kick off next week and will run until the end of the year, to raise awareness across the whole sector about the need for this new way of thinking about urban environments.

The Regional Ministry for Development and Infrastructures and the Association of Architects in the Region of Murcia worked together on 64 training and cultural actions related to the construction sector's new green focus, which is represented by the Sustainable Construction and Architecture Strategy of the Region of Murcia (EACS), presented recently by the regional government.

The region's general director of Territory and Architecture, Jaime Pérez Zulueta, and the president of the Association of Architects, María José Peñalver, today presented the schedule they have drawn up to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by this new way of designing cities, based on the renaturalisation of urban environments and their buildings.

"Sustainable architecture has a direct impact on people's wellbeing - because it stimulates the habits of a healthy life - and on the sustainability of the planet. What's more, it has an effect on the economy because it gives waste a second life, and on safety because it minimises the impact of floods", he said. The general director reiterated that "the Regional Administration will be a pioneer in implementing this new green philosophy, around all building processes will be focused".

The activities kick off next week and will run until the end of the year, to raise awareness across the whole sector about the need for this new way of thinking about urban environments.

Therefore, over the next few months, 250 hours of in-person and remote training will be provided, spread over 50 courses, on the subjects of eco-efficient urban planning, innovation, and urban design, among others. There will also be seven technical workshops for businesses.

Three debate forums will also be held: 'Organisation of Domestic Space', ' Innovation and Sustainability' and 'Relationship with the Outdoors', in which nine architects from the Region of Murcia will participate.

The cycle will be completed with a day held on the processing of planning instruments, and three themed exhibitions in collaboration with the newspaper La Verdad, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM).
