Regional minister Díez de Revenga highlights the role of the Technological Centre for Construction as a "driver of innovation" in the sector's ecological transition
The Autonomous Region is driving the green revolution in the building sector with the development of its Sustainable Construction and Architecture Strategy (EACS) that advocates for a real ecological transition in the field of construction, following the line pursued by the United Nations and the European Union.
The regional minister for Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, emphasised the role that the Technological Centre for Construction (CTCON) will have as a "driver of innovation" in this sector in the Region of Murcia over the next few years.
"At the Regional Government we feel that this non-profit organisation has the necessary experience and resources to implement measures to support the transition towards the circular economy promoted by the international institutions, which is based on renovation and recycling of materials to give them a new life," explained the minister.
Díez de Revenga reiterated that making the most of construction and demolition waste is one of the measures contained in the new building model promoted by the regional government.
"This centre can be a spearhead in the commitment to materials and components that minimise the carbon footprint, and construction systems that facilitate the disassembly of the building in such a way that the products can be recycled and reused, through a modular design," explained the regional head.
The minister highlighted several innovation projects being run by CTCON in the area of digitalisation, in which it combines BIM technology (Building Information Modelling) with geographic information systems (GIS) to optimise waste reuse operations, as well as the white asphalt project to reduce the 'heat island' effect.
