The Ministry of Development and UMU collaborate on a project to mitigate the 'heat island' effect

The Department of Development and Infrastructure has tasked specialists at the University of Murcia (UMU) with creating a guide with the most suitable tree and shrub species for the different urban environments in the Region of Murcia, with the aim of mitigating the 'heat island' effect and contributing to atmosphere cooling.

This is an action which encourages the implantation of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) to address the challenges of climate change in an increasingly urban society, defined in the Sustainable Architecture and Construction Strategy (EACS).
